ABOUT LARA PHILBROOK PRESS
Fashion is bigger than the runway. Lara Philbrook Press is an independent editorial publication exploring the intersection of fashion, culture, politics, technology & everyday life.
I created the Press because I became increasingly interested in the space between the fashion industry and the people who actually live in it. Fashion is often presented as something glamorous, aspirational and distant; but behind the image are questions about money, class, sustainability, technology, labor, identity, politics and access.
Those are the questions I want to explore.
I’m not writing from inside the fashion machine. I’m writing from the other side of the glass: as a consumer, creator, entrepreneur, aspiring model and observer.
That perspective matters to me because fashion shouldn’t only be examined from the front row. It should also be examined from the street, the fitting room, the thrift store, the checkout page, the casting call and the everyday lives of the people wearing it.
Lara Philbrook Press looks at what fashion is becoming and asks what that transformation means for the rest of us?
Welcome to the Press.
